More than 380 registered riders representing 12 states participated in this year's ride, creating an impressive procession of antique tractors, restored classics, and modern machinery as they traveled through the heart of central Iowa. The event showcased not only the enduring appeal of rural America but also the strong sense of community that continues to define Iowa agriculture.

Calhoun County was honored to serve as part of the ride's opening-day route. Tractors rolled into Rockwell City, traveled around the beautiful Twin Lakes area, passed through the countryside and communities of Calhoun County, and continued toward Webster County before returning to the Webster County Fairgrounds. Spectators lined roadsides, waved from driveways, and gathered in communities to witness one of Iowa's most beloved summertime traditions.

One of the highlights of the day occurred at South Central Calhoun Middle School in Rockwell City, where the South Central FFA and volunteers prepared and served a meal worthy of Iowa hospitality. Riders were treated to a menu of burgers, baked beans, potato salad, pasta salad, and delicious cookies. Feeding more than 380 riders and their support crews was no small undertaking, and the effort showcased the generosity and community spirit that make Calhoun County special.

Leading the ride was Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, who participated aboard a brand-new John Deere tractor. While many participants proudly displayed vintage and antique machines that reflected generations of farming history, the Governor's modern tractor served as a reminder that Iowa agriculture continues to embrace innovation while honoring its roots.

The WHO Great Iowa Tractor Ride is about much more than tractors. It is a celebration of Iowa's farming heritage, an opportunity for families and friends to connect, and a chance for communities to showcase their local attractions and hospitality. Participants traveled from across Iowa and throughout the Midwest, bringing visitors into local communities and highlighting the beauty of Iowa's countryside.

For Calhoun County residents, the ride provided a unique opportunity to showcase some of the county's greatest assets—from the scenic Twin Lakes region to the welcoming communities that proudly support agriculture. Visitors experienced firsthand the rolling landscapes, small-town charm, and friendly faces that make Calhoun County a great place to live, work, and visit.

The event also served as a reminder of agriculture's lasting impact on Iowa's economy and culture. For generations, tractors have represented hard work, innovation, and the resilience of farm families. Seeing hundreds of them travel together through Calhoun County was a powerful tribute to the people who continue to feed and fuel the world.

As the tractors rolled out of Calhoun County and continued their journey, they left behind smiles, memories, and plenty of stories to tell. For one memorable day, the roads of Calhoun County belonged to Iowa agriculture, and the county was proud to be part of a tradition that celebrates the past, present, and future of rural Iowa.

Calhoun County extends its appreciation to the many volunteers, South Central Calhoun Community School District staff, local businesses, public safety personnel, and community members who helped make the stop a success. Their efforts demonstrated exactly what visitors discovered during their time here: that Calhoun County is a place where people come together, lend a hand, and proudly share the best of rural Iowa.
