Calhoun County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking professional to serve as its next Executive Director and help lead the county into its next chapter of growth.

This is more than an administrative position—it is an opportunity to step into a leadership role at a time when Calhoun County has significant momentum, active projects, and new opportunities taking shape across the county.

Located in west-central Iowa, Calhoun County combines the advantages of rural living with strong communities, established businesses, agriculture, recreation, and access to the four-lane U.S. Highway 20 corridor. CCEDC works countywide to support existing businesses, encourage new investment, strengthen the workforce, develop community leaders, and position Calhoun County for long-term growth.

An Exciting Time to Join Calhoun County

The next Executive Director will inherit an organization with a strong foundation and a number of initiatives already moving forward.

Among them is the continued development and marketing of the Calhoun County Business Park at the intersection of U.S. Highway 20 and Iowa Highway 4, creating opportunities for commercial and industrial investment along one of Iowa’s major transportation corridors.

CCEDC is also investing in a stronger business-attraction strategy, expanded digital marketing and data-driven outreach designed to put Calhoun County in front of prospective businesses, developers, investors, visitors, and future residents.

At the same time, Calhoun County is looking inward and investing in its greatest resource—its people. Leadership Calhoun is entering its second year, bringing together emerging and established leaders from throughout the county for a nine-month leadership and community-development experience.

Tourism is another growing priority. Through the “Expect the Unexpected” initiative, CCEDC is showcasing the recreational, cultural, historical, and quality-of-life assets found throughout Calhoun County—from Twin Lakes and county parks to community festivals, trails, hunting, heritage attractions, and small-town experiences.

The county is also engaged in long-range planning through an updated Calhoun County Comprehensive Plan, while CCEDC is preparing to refresh its own strategic plan to guide economic and community development priorities into the coming years.

These initiatives are happening alongside CCEDC’s ongoing work with local businesses, entrepreneurs, communities, lenders, utilities, regional organizations, state agencies, and prospective developers.

The Executive Director serves as the primary leader and spokesperson for CCEDC and will have the opportunity to build relationships throughout Calhoun County and beyond.

The position is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting people and ideas, managing projects, pursuing funding opportunities, supporting businesses, marketing communities, and turning possibilities into action.

Key areas of responsibility include:

Most importantly, the next Executive Director will not be starting from scratch. Projects are underway, partnerships are established, and opportunities are developing. The successful candidate will have the chance to take that momentum and help determine where Calhoun County goes next.

For a professional who wants to make a visible difference, build relationships, and be directly involved in the future of a rural Iowa county, this is an opportunity to lead, create, connect, and grow.

CCEDC is accepting applications for the Calhoun County Economic Development Executive Director position through September 11, 2026.

Come be part of an organization—and a county—that is moving forward.

Calhoun County is ready for what’s next. We are looking for the leader who wants to help make it happen.
